With all eyes on President Donald Trump at the Group of Seven economic summit after days of tension between once-close allies, the mandarin mogul gave the world a disgraceful show that proved once again that he would rather sabotage our international alliances and put our economy in jeopardy rather than back down for any reason.
President Trump’s recent imposition of enormously unpopular tariffs on our trading partners has been a point of major contention ahead of the talks, and he doubled down on his reckless protectionism by delivering an ultimatum to the gathering of world leaders from France, Germany, the UK, Italy, Japan, and Canada.
“They have no choice. I’ll be honest with you, they have no choice. We’re going to fix that situation. And if it’s not fixed, then we’re not going to deal with these countries. We’re the piggy bank that everybody is robbing. And that ends” said Trump, threatening to cut them off from American markets entirely if they don’t reduce their trade barriers.

The president also renewed his call for the Russian Federation to be re-admitted to the G7, making it obvious that Trump is deliberately sabotaging our alliances with the rest of the western world and warming up to the Kremlin instead.
To add insult to injury, President Trump will be pulling out of the G-7 economic summit early, departing on early Saturday morning instead of attending the scheduled meetings on fighting climate change, clean energy, and cleaning up the oceans.
Instead of completing the meetings, he will be traveling directly to Singapore to “prepare” for his upcoming June 12 denuclearization summit with North Korea’s Kim Jong-un and South Korea’s Moon Jae-in.
The president’s impulsive and disturbing behavior is a very bad sign of things to come. If he’s willing to be so reckless with our international relationships and the American economy, one shudders to think of how he might behave with nuclear weapons on the line.
