Melania Trump’s prolonged departure from the public eye after her surgery last month proved to be a wellspring for all manner of conspiracy theories, most of which were finally laid to rest when she made reappeared earlier this work.
Now that it’s clear that nothing horrific befell her and she that hasn’t fled the White House, it appears that there are really only two plausible explanations for her hiatus: either the “minor surgery” required a longer recuperation period than expected, or she was capitalizing on the opportunity to stop being First Lady for a little while.
Her dislike for her husband has been well-documented, with numerous incidents of her publicly rebuffing his attempts to hold her hand and rumors that she is deeply unhappy with him behind the scenes as well.
Whatever their strange marriage was like before the election, the subsequent limelight and allegations of extramarital affairs — most notably by adult film star Stormy Daniels — have assuredly extracted a heavy toll on Melania’s feelings for Donald.
It was into this murky marital tempest that professional liar and Trump attack dog Rudy Giuliani stepped yesterday when he made the assertion that Melania “believes her husband and knows it’s untrue,” in regard to the Stormy Daniels allegations. As is so often the case with the slobbering former mayor, the statement proved to be a fabrication.
Today, Giuliani was exposed. Maggie Haberman of The New York Times asked Stephanie Grisham, the spokeswoman for Melania, to respond to Giuliani’s comments.
“I don’t believe Mrs. Trump has ever discussed her thoughts on anything with Mr. Giuliani,” Grisham said.
While she didn’t outright call the former NYC mayor a liar, it’s clearly an oblique move on the part of the First Lady’s office to stomp out the idea that Melania somehow still believes her husband was faithful.
Presumably, the First Lady doesn’t want to be made to look like a fool, which she would have to be if she thought Stormy Daniels was lying at this point. Melania may be back on the world stage next to Trump, but their marriage continues to crumble.
Yikes. I asked @FLOTUS spokeswoman @StephGrisham45 about Giuliani saying that she believes her husband re Stormy Daniels. Response: “I don't believe Mrs. Trump has ever discussed her thoughts on anything with Mr. Giuliani.”
