In an absolutely stunning show of hypocrisy, the Trump administration and the rabid horde of right-wing “free speech” defenders who just spent the past two days using race science to explain how Roseanne Barr calling Valerie Jarrett an “ape” wasn’t racist are now howling for Samantha Bee’s head because she used a vulgar word to describe the President’s daughter, Ivanka Trump.
Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders took to the podium today and demanded that CBS cancel former Daily Show correspondent Samantha Bee’s show, Full Frontal, over the host’s admittedly questionable decision to use the phrase “feckless c*nt” to describe First Daughter Ivanka Trump.
“The language used by Samantha Bee last night is vile and vicious. The collective silence by the left and its media allies is appalling. Her disgusting comments and show are not fit for broadcast, and executives at Time Warner and TBS must demonstrate that such explicit profanity about female members of this administration will not be condoned on its network.”
This is an act of political hypocrisy so heinous that it’s a wonder her throat didn’t close in on itself and cut off the oxygen to her vocal cords, the very sinews and muscles too appalled at her profane abuse of the power of speech to allow it to occur.
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has referred to women as “disgusting slobs,” “fat pigs,” and “dogs” who you have to “treat like sh*t.” He’s been accused of sexually assaulting at least twenty women and has spent his entire presidency attacking a woman’s right to make decisions for her own body.
On top of that, he’s waged an incessant campaign against the media for reporting negative stories about him and demonized NFL players for kneeling during the National Anthem, attempting to repress their rights to free speech and destroy our nation’s historic tradition of a free and independent press.
To tie both lines of hypocrisy together, Trump once told a reporter that she was a “c*nt.” The president is also on record calling former Attorney General Sally Yates ‘such a c**t” for her role in exposing National Security Advisor Michael Flynn’s dealings with foreign governments.
The president and his administration has absolutely no grounds to stand on when it comes to complaining about the comments of a late-night TV show host, no matter how vulgar they might have been – and to see the government demanding the censorship of public television just because it’s unfriendly to the ruling elites.
