A new Roseanne punishment just got handed down that will cost her co-stars a fortune

The cancellation of the reboot of the Roseanne comedy on ABC is going to cost star Roseanne Barr millions and now, on top of that, she stands to lose many millions more from the lucrative syndicated TV and cable TV re-runs of her original Roseanne TV series.

The show, which was relaunched earlier this year and canceled today, produced about 229 episodes from 1988 through 1996.

With the surprise success of the reboot, the Roseanne reruns have begun flooding the airwaves once again, but now Viacom, which distributes the series, has decided to pull it from the air in the wake of the controversy over the star’s abhorrent racist comments, reports The Wrap

The original episodes are being pulled from TV Land, the Paramount Network, and CMT, and put back into mothballs indefinitely.

As the star, producer and often writer, director and more on the show, Barr receives significant residual income from the airings and related home video sales, which will now be curtailed and soon dry up.

Amazon still has streaming rights to Roseanne, and the company controlled by Jeff Bezos (who also owns The Washington Post) has not said what it will do with the show and about the star, who is a big favorite of President Trump.

That is significant because Trump has been attacking Bezos, The Washington Post, and Amazon for months, and especially in recent weeks, so the president’s support is not likely to be helpful to Barr as Amazon decides what to do.

That question about the future of the original Roseanne has now been answered for Viacom, which says in a statement that it will fill the time slots with other original and rerun programs from its vast film and TV library.

There are rumors that Barr will reboot the show herself and run it on YouTube or some other backwater platform but that would be very expensive and require a big organizational push.

Some of the other Roseanne cast have also signaled their distaste for what the star has done so getting everyone together again could also be a challenge.

At this point, Barr is so toxic that no legitimate company will touch her, so it may well be time for her to retire to her plantation in Hawaii and grow some more nuts to go with the loose screws in her head.
