It looks like the right’s “operation #Hoggwatch” is not going terribly well. Not that an online movement aimed at harassing and belittling teenagers who almost died in a school shooting would have many high points, but try telling that to those self-righteous conservatives.

It took almost no time from the moment the Parkland activists began to rise from the tragedy they survived for the right to start a smear campaign against the teens. They were called “crisis actors” and were accused of being paid by the “liberal” media outlets to provide content for their viewers.
As the kids slowly became household names, a new website popped up. It’s called hoggwatch.com (seriously – just don’t visit it since they don’t deserve the web traffic) and it exists solely to “keep an eye” on survivor David Hogg.
But the conservative right is not known for their intelligence, and it seems, to them, that at this point any person who speaks out on gun reform is David Hogg – like his classmate, fellow survivor and activist Cameron Kasky, who experienced an unfortunate encounter on Thursday which he posted to his Twitter:
Somebody just walked up to me and said “You’re lucky I don’t punch you in the face, Hogg.”
This has happened several times. If anything, it shows that my diet is working.

Kasky and Hogg, as a reminder, have become activists advocating for common sense gun legislation, and each tweets about once per day reminding the country there is nothing in any of their proposals which would strip all guns away from law-abiding citizens.
That apparently doesn’t stop strangers from threatening to silence the activists with violence.
The true comedy, of course, is that the perpetrator who threatened Kasky called him Hogg, confusing him for his friend David.
“This has happened several times,” he admits, but he keeps in good spirits when he chides, “If anything, it shows that my diet is working.”
For reference, here’s a picture the pair posted last month showing their support for LGBTQ teens who were attending prom together:

They do share one similarity – they’re both white.
If these people on the right are so hell-bent on derisive name calling and threats of physical violence, the least they could do is harass the right person.
But, as David Hogg often points out, they’re standing on the wrong side of history because “the kids will win.”
