While most of the world reminisces about royal nuptials in preparation for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s big day, some of the memories are not so magical.
For example, before Donald Trump was saddled with the burden of spending every weekend golfing in Mar-a-Lago running the American government, he was a frequent guest on the Howard Stern show. The notoriously crude shock-jock loves asking about his guest’s sex lives, and as a result the world has been exposed to the sordid history of Trump’s boudoir behaviors.

In a late-90s segment, Stern and Trump were discussing HIV testing before sexual encounters. Somehow, the conversation turned to the likelihood of Trump sleeping with the recently deceased Diana, Princess of Wales.
“I tell you what,” Trump told Stern. “I think she’s magnificent. Lady Di was truly a woman with great beauty. I’ve seen her a couple of times.”
Stern asked Trump at one point, “You could’ve gotten her, right? You could’ve nailed her?”
“I think I could have,” Trump stated.
In an additional segment in 2000, the princess came up again in a discussion about a list that the owner of Star Magazine requested of the ten most beautiful women in the world. The list included Diana, and Trump reiterated his desire for Diana to have an HIV test beforehand.
“Go back over to my Lexus because I have a new doctor, we wanna give you a little checkup,” Trump joked about the late princess.
Princess Diana was an incredible humanitarian during her tragically short life. A decade before her death, the princess became associated with the AIDs crisis which the Reagan administration had been ignoring domestically. Lady Di shocked the world when she was photographed shaking the hand of a patient afflicted with the disease.
What a surprise – a brave, compassionate woman worked hard to bring visibility to a debilitating illness quickly becoming a global crisis, and Trump managed to make it a crude joke about his own sex life. Twice.
That none of his followers saw these red flags years before his presidential bid is still surprising. At this point, they probably won’t even care when the truth about his crimes finally come to the light.
