The smiles that the pair sport mirror the optimism of the message Hogg appended to the photo, acknowledging the difficulties of the struggle ahead but predicting an ultimate victory in the fight to enact sensible gun regulations such as an assault weapons ban and the closing of background check loopholes.
The solidarity between the survivors of two separate tragedies is an inspiring thing to witness and demonstrates how unity can make optimism about the future of the fight against gun violence in schools and every other venue seem the proper attitude.
