White House insulted McCain on his deathbed. Joe Biden’s response is powerful

Former Vice President Joe Biden has finally weighed in on White House aide Kelly Sadler’s heartless dismissal of ailing Senator John McCain, when she said “he’s going to die soon, anyway” as a way to belittle his rejection of Trump’s pick to lead the CIA, torture-happy Gina Haspel.

In typical Biden fashion, the response is short, but powerful. CNN’s Jim Acosta provided the full statement in a tweet:

“People have wondered when decency would hit rock bottom with this administration. It happened yesterday,” he begins, before launching into a full-fledge rebuke of the heinous comments.

“John McCain is a genuine hero,” he continues, “a man of valor whose sacrifices for his country are immeasurable. As he fights for his life, he deserves better – so much better.” Though we might often disagree with McCain’s politics, Biden makes an excellent point.

His final two paragraphs really dig at the current administration’s propensity to use insults in place of logical discourse when he says, Given this White House’s trail of disrespect toward John and others, this staffer is not the exception to the rule; she in the epitome of it.

Biden is absolutely correct – Sadler’s underhanded remark is a softball compared to what her boss frequently lobs at anyone who disagrees with him. Look no further than his campaign rally in Indiana last night for the most recent examples of his ridiculous behavior.

Finally, Biden does one other thing for which he has a particular knack – offering hope.

Our children learn from our example. The lingering question is whose example will it be? I am certain it will be John’s.”

This country will be lucky if the impressionable ears exposed to Trump’s rhetoric still manage to grow up with the tact of John McCain and not the revolting bile that the president spews on a daily basis.
