Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump just went into hiding “underground”

If there is any justice in this world by the time the Trump presidency is over those closest to him will be wishing he had never descended that escalator and announced his candidacy in the first place. If there’s any poetry in it, they’ll all be headed for jail.

While it’s hard to pick which members of Trump’s circle are the most detestable and deserving of scorn, his daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner are certainly in the running for that ignominious distinction.

Ivanka continues to impersonate a feminist activist while simultaneously helping prop up her sexual predator father and the most misogynist administration in modern American history.

Kushner, for his part, seems to be nothing more than a white-collar crook, albeit a rather incompetent one. While he’s been assigned the herculean tasks of ending the opioid crisis and bringing a lasting peace to the Middle East, he seems far more interested in peddling influence to help dig his floundering company out from beneath a mountain of debt.

When Javanka goes down, the sheer force of collective schadenfreude experienced by most of the country is sure to register on the Richter scale. The two of them seem to be aware of their looming problems. While they were once prominent in the public eye, they seem to be intentionally avoiding the limelight in recent months. This morning, MSNBC’s Nicole Wallace pointed out this fact.

“The word I hear is that the kids have gone underground. What do you hear about what Jared and Ivanka are up to?” Wallace asked Associated Press journalist Jonathan Lemire.

“Jared and Ivanka, Jared in particular, have kept a lower profile in recent months, particularly since Kushner had his security clearance downgraded. There remains concern in the White House, outside among Trump allies, from all of our reporting, about what Kushner’s exposure could be here,” said Lemire, before going on to explain the reasons why Special Counsel Robert Mueller may take a special interest in the president’s son-in-law.
