Melania just humiliated Trump when he tried to hold her hand in front of French president

Old habits die especially hard for Donald Trump. Despite the fact that the Republican president has been rebuked on a number of occasions by his wife, Melania, that hasn’t stopped him from his continued attempts at showing her affection. Nor has it stopped her from thwarting them.

This morning, when French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, arrived in the United States for Trump’s first official state visit, it came as no surprise that the insecure president wanted to present his best self. Unfortunately for him, so did Melania.

It took Trump numerous desperate – and blatant – attempts at holding his wife’s hand before she finally begrudgingly relented, but the damage had already been done.

This is, of course, not the president’s first foray into unsuccessful public displays of affection with his wife, who has rebuffed him on numerous occasions.

The snub comes only months after Melania was utterly humiliated as news surfaced of the multiple affairs Trump had while the couple was still newly married. Trump and his lawyer, Michael Cohen, are currently under investigation by the Southern District of New York for a possibly illegal $130,000 payment to porn star Stormy Daniels as hush money for her continued silence about their illicit tryst that occurred in 2006, only months after Melania gave birth to their son, Barron.

Trump’s sordid behavior may have been a source of embarrassment for the First Lady, but her continued public rebukes of her husband are certainly starting to level the playing field.
