The Democratic Party just hit Trump, Russia, and Wikileaks with a major racketeering lawsuit

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) just filed a massive lawsuit (embedded below) in the Manhattan-based Southern District of New York federal court against the Donald J. Trump for President campaign, President Donald Trump himself, and against his many accused co-conspirators including Wikileaks, the Russian Federation’s military intelligence agency (the GRU), hacker Guccifer 2.0, wildcard right-wing political operative Roger Stone, former campaign manager Paul Manafort, and Trump family members Jared Kushner and Don Jr.

The DNC lawsuit alleges that Trump Campaign and its partners systematically engaged in an illegal pattern of electronic espionage and the theft of trade secrets for use against the Hillary Clinton for President campaign.

The Democratic Party filed a similar lawsuit against President Richard Nixon over the Watergate break-in, and won, getting paid $750,000 on the day he resigned from office, the equivalent of $4.35 million today.

While the President enjoys broad pardon powers in federal criminal cases, he’s clearly subject to the court’s power in civil proceedings, including compulsory testimony. The DNC’s new lawsuit provides a failsafe or backup plan in case anything goes astray with Special Counsel Mueller’s probe, by giving the party a public forum to seek the truth about Trump’s collusion with Russia. The Democratic Party’s lawyers at Cohen Milstein wrote:

Sixty-six pages of detailed, sourced allegations from the DNC form the basis of a RICO Act claim – the 1970 federal law enacted to combat the Mafia and other organized crime groups – and 10 other counts like wiretapping, trespassing, and even copyright violations.

Significantly, RICO Act cases may be tried in criminal or civil court, and the law provides for treble damages to the DNC if they prove their claims against the Trump Campaign in this litigation.

It’s been suspected for some time that Special Counsel Mueller will use a RICO Act indictment against the Trump Campaign, and name the President as an unindicted co-conspirator.

Similarly, the $25 million cash settlement against Donald Trump for perpetrating a national fraud called Trump University was also brought in federal court under the RICO Act just finalized earlier this month.

Even the most doubtful Russia skeptic cannot explain away the series of events that Putin and his cronies used to woo Donald Trump and his camp to their side in order to sway American foreign policy in his favor.

Furthermore, the cogent narrative of the DNC’s complaint ties together the last two years worth of news reporting from during and after the election.

It demonstrates both Donald Trump and Russia’s motives to harm Hillary Clinton, the serious financial damage wrought by stealing the party’s information, and the Trump Campaign’s consciousness of guilt by delivering detailed lies to cover up their treasonous relationship.
