Today is Tax Day in the United States, the day when millions of hardworking Americans file their mandatory contributions to keep the government funded and running. While some Americans file perfectly legitimate extensions to give themselves more time to get their finances in order, there is one person that everyone expects to pay their taxes on time: the President of the United States.
Of course, since we’re saddled with Trump in the Oval Office, all reasonable expectations fall by the wayside.
Rather than file his taxes today, President Trump has requested the IRS give him an extension. The move is especially noteworthy due to the heavy criticism leveled at Trump for refusing to release prior tax returns during his campaign for the presidency.

It’s a refusal he maintained even after being sworn in, leading many to suspect that there is either something untoward in the documents or that he isn’t actually as rich as he constantly brags.
“The president filed an extension for his 2017 tax return, as do many Americans with complex returns. He will file his tax return by the extension deadline of October 15, 2018,” White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said.
It’s strange, to say the least, that the man leading the country can’t manage to pay his taxes to that country on time. We know for a fact that he isn’t too busy to do it, given that he wastes most of his time glued to his television watching Fox News and angrily tweeting. Most likely, he simply couldn’t be bothered.
This is, after all, the man who claimed that his past abuse of the tax code in order to pay less made him “smart.” Somehow he wants us to believe he’s a patriotic and devoted American, despite the fact that he can’t be bothered to pay his fair share in taxes.
