A few months ago, shockwaves rippled through the country when Michael Wolff released “Fire and Fury,” a book detailing the secret inner workings of Trump’s White House. Today, the shockwaves doubled as transcripts of James Comey’s upcoming memoir “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership” leaked to the world.
Based on Trump’s tweet storm following the leaks, the “stable genius” is terrified of what the full contents of the book will do to his reputation.
In comes Sarah Huckabee Sanders to do the only thing she seems to be good at: lying to cover the president’s tracks, and defaming James Comey in an attempt to invalidate his words.

“The American people see right through the blatant lies of a self-admitted leaker,” she began when asked about the claims in Comey’s book. Ironically, Huckabee Sander’s only skill is to blatantly lie.
But she really went for the gullet today, when she came after Comey’s character. “This is nothing more than a poorly executed PR stunt… to desperately rehabilitate [Comey’s] tattered reputation and enrich his own bank account,” she continued. She really seems to be protecting on this one since her entire career is a poorly executed PR stunt to legitimize the least popular president in history.
That wasn’t good enough for Sanders, who dealt the final blow from her prepared statement.
“Comey will be forever known as a disgraced partisan hack that broke his sacred trust with the president of the United States, the dedicated agents of the FBI and the American people he vowed to faithfully serve.”
She ends by claiming Trump’s decision to terminate Comey will go down as one of his greatest achievements. Presumably, she makes that assertion because he’s failed to make good on most of his campaign promises, and he’s really only managed to successfully do what he’s known for: firing people.
As for her insistence that Comey “broke his sacred trust with the president,” it is imperative to remember that it was Comey’s October 2016 memo which effectively sank the election for Trump’s rival, Hillary Clinton. Trump remained friendly with Comey until the FBI, lead by Comey at that time, began investigating potential Russian meddling in the 2016 election.
As soon as Comey implicated Trump in the investigation, Trump fired him. That action was the catalyst which prompted the installation of the special counsel, lead by Robert Mueller, whom Trump has also indicated he intends to fire.
Provided that Mueller is able to continue his investigation unimpeded, and that investigation finally lands Trump in jail where he belongs, then we have to agree with Mrs. Sanders: firing Comey will be one of Trump’s greatest achievements, as it also will have brought about his downfall.
The devil works hard, but Sarah Huckabee Sanders works much, much harder.
