Trump just declared all-out war on Comey with a rabid, offensive Twitter rant

James Comey, the former FBI director who was fired by Trump in an attempt to scuttle the investigation into the president’s ties to Russia, has a new book coming out that exposes, in detail, the deeply dysfunctional and dangerous administration that our reality television president is running.

Amidst the many unsettling revelations in A Higher Honor — including the fact that Trump asked Comey to investigate the “pee tape”— Comey states that dealing with Trump reminded him of Mafia bosses he’d encountered during his long FBI career. Less surprisingly, he accuses Trump of being a habitual liar.

It was only a matter of time before the president blew his top, and this morning he delivered in raging spades. Trump took to Twitter to unleash one of his infamous, petulant meltdowns.

Blind to the sheer hypocrisy of it, our gleefully mendacious commander-in-chief accused Comey of being a liar and followed it up with a stunning lie of his own by claiming that “virtually everyone in Washington” wanted Comey fired. In reality, the former FBI Director was beloved by his agency, and the bureau suffered a serious blow to morale when he was fired.

Trump then said that Comey leaked “CLASSIFIED” information and that he should be prosecuted. He didn’t and he shouldn’t be. He also did not lie to Congress under “OATH” regardless of Trump’s statement to the contrary.

The president then called the career law enforcement officer “weak” and an “untruthful slime ball.” The irony of a lecherous, dishonest, scheming, criminal creature like Trump accusing someone else of being a slime ball is almost too much to process.

Clearly, President Trump is terrified of Comey and what he’s revealing to the American people. These tweets are the cries of a desperate, cornered man. Comey has a duty to continue telling the truth about this vile administration so that the country is properly informed and armed to combat it.
