Madeleine Albright just issued a bold message that is sure to infuriate Trump

Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright — who served under President Bill Clinton and was the first woman appointed to the be the nation’s top diplomat — has been stepping up her anti-Trump rhetoric recently. Albright is releasing a new book on fascism, and the timing couldn’t be more appropriate.

Today, Buzzfeed published fresh criticism of the Trump regime from Albright. She took aim at the lack of diversity in the current administration, specifically the fact that it is populated by “all white men.”

The former Secretary called the lack of women representation in Trump’s government a “waste of a good resource.” It’s a great point, and an organization that doesn’t employ enough women is bound to have massive blind spots on numerous issues.

That said, it’s not surprising that Trump has chosen to employ very few women, given his long history not only of misogyny but of serial sexual predation. The president neither values nor respects women. Albright’s criticism is spot on.

“There are a lot of smart women that are very capable of making decisions. One of the things I have said is women work incredibly hard, having a lot of good ideas, but there needs to be more than one woman in the room,” said Albright.

Varied experience provides varied options to problems as they arise. If all of your advisers are from a similar background, you’re going to get a very limited range of suggestions.

I do think that what is necessary is diversity, the strength of our country is diversity. What has been the magic of America is our welcoming of people that are not exactly the same,” said Albright.

Albright, herself an immigrant from Czechoslovakia, also defended Muslims from Trump’s ruthless attacks. President Trump has built his political persona on demonizing not only Muslims but numerous minorities. It’s a distinctly unAmerican line of talk and has no place in a country built by immigrants.

“You can’t do what President Trump has done, is to make Muslims the enemy and say that they can’t come into this country or automatically that they are terrorists. What has been the magic of America is our welcoming of people that are not exactly the same,” she said.

This final point by Albright reveals one of Trump’s biggest weakness: by attacking and dividing along racial and religious lines, he has turned a huge portion of the country against him. Instead of leading the nation, he’s leading only a fragmented, bigoted portion. A president who fails to unite and rally at least a slight majority of the country behind him is doomed to fail.

And fail he will.
