Top FOX host Lou Dobbs just tried to rally support for firing Mueller and it backfired in hilarious fashion

The talking heads at Fox News love polls, mostly because it’s an easily manipulatable set of statistics that people are inclined to accept as fact despite the serious problems inherent in the way it’s gathered. Unfortunately for Fox Business host Lou Dobbs, a poll he posted on Twitter didn’t yield the results he wanted to see.

Yesterday, after news had broken of the FBI raid on basically everything Michael Cohen ever touched, conservatives stumbled over themselves desperately trying to downplay the chaos.

Presumably developing fodder for a future segment, Dobbs posted a poll on his Twitter account. The tweet inquired whether the public felt Trump should fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller, Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein after the “corrupt” actions of the DOJ and FBI.

Given his 1.7 million followers on his account, Dobbs probably thought he had a slam dunk on his hands. However, Dobbs woke up to interesting results this morning:

With 175,132 votes in, the yes or no question went 25% to 75%, respectively, decimating any hopes Dobbs had of rationalizing away yesterday’s monumental raid.

“This is now a man that has to be brought under control, it would seem to me,” Dobbs said of Mueller. “Frankly, I can’t imagine, because each of us has to come to terms with our own heart and conscience — I would fire the SOB in three seconds if it were me.”

It seems the majority disagrees with Mr. Dobbs’ opinion.

The votes likely swung so far from Hobbs’ intended target because yesterday’s raid had little to do with Mueller, save a referral “in part” from the Special Counsel indicating the FBI should conduct the search.

Instead of seizing documents pertaining to Mueller’s investigation of Russian meddling in the 2016 election, agents grabbed tax documents related to the $130k payment Cohen made to Stephanie “Stormy Daniels” Clifford prior to the same event.

Dobbs was also likely trying to satiate his hysterical orange leader, considering that Trump threw another glorious TV tantrum yesterday. At a meeting intended to discuss how to respond to Syrian leader Bashar Hafez al-Assad’s chemical weapon attack against his own people, Trump completely commandeered the meeting to instead rant about the raid, again dubbing it a “witch hunt.”

Most concerning was Trump’s response when a reporter called out, “Why don’t you just fire Mueller?” He responded that “many people” have made that suggestion, and indicated he just might listen to the advice.

Trump technically not fire Mueller himself, but he could fire Sessions or Rosenstein and replace them with “loyal” followers who would take a dive and launch us into a constitutional crisis that even Lou Dobbs’ conservative viewers overwhelmingly oppose.
