The governor of Oregon just publicly humiliated Trump with a powerful act of defiance

The president’s latest ploy to distract the nation from his stunning incompetence and from the encircling investigators of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team is a doozy indeed.

He’s become fixated on the idea of deploying the National Guard to the deserts of Texas in order to guard the border, which is supposed to stop the flow of undocumented migrants and illegal drugs into the United States.

In typically Trumpian fashion, the entire idea is a preposterous display of force that will be as ineffective as it will be expensive – and he’s going to find out the hard way (again) that in America, one can’t simply make ridiculous commands and see them immediately followed.

The Democratic Governor of Oregon, Kate Brown, immediately took to Twitter and made it clear that under no circumstances was she going to be deploying her state’s reservists to go play cowboy in the desert at the whims of a demented old racist – and called out his real reason for this absurd stunt.

Since Trump hasn’t succeeded in securing the funding he needs for his big beautiful wall, he’s decided this is the next best thing to prove to his voter base of affluent racists that he’s actually following through on his campaign promises.

While the fears and insecurity of the Trump voting base are by and large real and need to be addressed, sending thousands of armed men to stand on the border isn’t going to solve any of them.
