Laura Ingraham just caved to David Hogg and admitted defeat in humiliating tweet

Fox News hostess Laura Ingraham seems to have a lot of backbone as she spouts her alt-right conservative, pro-Trump views on radio and TV, but this week after she mocked 17-year-old David Hogg, an outspoken survivor of the deadly massacre at Marjory Stoneham Douglas High School, and he fought back, she folded like a house of cards in a hot Santa Ana windstorm.

Ingraham previously took to Twitter to needle Hogg because, despite good grades and an outstanding school record, he did not get accepted to UCLA and some other universities to which he had applied. She even attached a report from a right-wing news blog.

Hogg, a young man who has shown great character, first in his courage during and after the murder of 17 students and faculty at the Parkland, Florida school, and since then as one of the leaders of the student-run effort to get American politicians to adopt some sensible gun laws to prevent similar future tragedies, fought back.

Hogg has been the subject of vicious attacks by the right wing, including lies about whether he even attended the school to attacks on his personal character, with one demented ultra right-wing website comparing him to Hitler, but that hasn’t stopped him.

Hogg stood up to the bullies and gave a memorable speech in Washington last weekend at the March for Our Lives.

So when Ingraham went after Hogg, he used the power he has gained since the Valentine’s Day massacre and told his 600,000 followers on Twitter to contact her advertisers and tell them to boycott her Fox News show, and they did.

Very quickly, three of her advertisers did exactly as Hogg hoped, agreeing to remove their ads from The Ingraham Angle.

Rachel Ray’s Nutrish told HuffPost in a statement: “We are in the process of removing our ads from Laura Ingraham’s program, as the comments she has made are not consistent with how we feel people should be treated.”

Trip Advisor said: “These statements focused on a high school student, cross the line of decency. As such, we have made a decision to stop advertising on that program.”

Wayfair told The Daily Beast: “The decision of an adult to personally criticize a high school student who has lost his classmates in an unspeakable tragedy is not consistent with our values. We do not plan to continue advertising on this particular program.”

That was enough for Ingraham to park her backbone and quickly go spineless in response:

Hogg and his fellow teens advocating for sensible gun laws that are long overdue in the U.S. have promised to keep up the fight, and take it to the November elections when people will have a chance to vote their conscience and elect representatives who will stop the nonsense, and end the slavish response to the NRA’s guns forever.

If what happened with Ingraham is an example of what Hogg, his classmates, and his growing army of supporters can accomplish then finally there may be a new dawn in America, where the gun loving minority no longer can hold the peace-loving majority hostage.
