Trump just fired a top cabinet secretary and replaced him with his personal doctor

The Trump administration saw the latest in a seemingly interminable string of departures today with the ousting of Veterans Affair Secretary David Shulkin. CNBC reports that he will be replaced by Trump’s personal physician Admiral Ronny L. Jackson.

Jackson is the doctor who administered the president’s personal physical examination and made the absurd and widely mocked claim that the morbidly obese Trump is in great health.

It will come as no surprise that Jackson has no administrative experience.

President Trump tweeted about the replacement and thanked Shulkin for his service, failing to mention that Shulkin is embroiled in controversy over his wife using tax dollars to travel with him to Europe.

It’s as yet unclear if Shulkin was given an advance warning or if he found out from the tweet. Trump has a history of using the social media to deliver surprise firings.

Shulkin’s firing demonstrates yet again that Trump is woefully incapable of running an effective government. He promised to hire the “very best people” but so far most of his picks have turned out to be short-term duds with high turnover rates. The absolute chaos raging in the White House is dangerous and just one of the countless reasons Trump must go.
