Infamous homophobe and all-around weird guy Vice President Mike Pence has somehow managed to mostly stay out of the toxic news cycle as President Trump’s administration implodes amid sex scandals and the ever-expanding Mueller probe. While not quite press-averse, Pence seems to be keeping a low-profile, perhaps in the hope that when Trump inevitably goes down, he’ll be able to ascend to the presidency.
With that in mind, it’s crucial that opponents of the Republican regime refuse to let Pence wait in the shadows, unexamined and uncriticized. Luckily, some are taking action.
HuffPost reports that Columbus, Indiana — the Vice President’s hometown — will hold its first ever gay pride parade. The celebration is meant to show the world that not everyone from Columbus is a bigot like Pence.

“I am organizing Columbus Pride Festival because I feel it is important for members of the LGBTQ community to know that Columbus is a welcoming and diverse community,” said Erin Bailey, the high school student organizing the event.
Baily shared a photo of a poster for the parade on her Instagram. It will be held on April 14th.
While the parade is the first of its kind for Columbus, locals state that it has had a vibrant, well-represented LGBTQ community for years.
“While this is the first event of its kind to be held in Mike Pence’s hometown, there have been several events over the years that have been sponsored by PAC (Pride Alliance Columbus), Inclusive Columbus Coalition and other LGBTQ+ groups in Columbus,” said Jill Tasker, the President of Pride Alliance Columbus.
The pride parade is sure to infuriate Pence, for whom anti-LGBTQ bigotry constitutes a large part of his political profile. He’s a religious fanatic intent on enforcing his regressive beliefs on innocent Americans with little to no respect for the constitutional separation between church and state.
Pence in the past has even supported conversion therapy, a hateful destructive practice that treats homosexuality as a disease to be cured rather than the perfectly normal sexual orientation it really is. He’s a dangerous man, and his hometown should be celebrated for sticking it to him.
