Jim Carrey just painted a portrait in honor of the Parkland survivors’ March For Our Lives

Actor Jim Carrey has long been known for his comedic acting, but it’s only been in the last few weeks that his sideline as a scathingly acerbic political artist has become more widely known.

His satirical portraits of well-known political figures from Sarah Huckabee Sanders to Jared Kushner to President Trump himself (portrayed in flagrante delicto with a stormy blond woman) have gone viral when he began posting his work on Twitter.

Carrey decided to create a special piece of art to commemorate today’s March For Our Lives demanding immediate action against gun violence and the passing of sensible gun regulations like a ban on assault weapons, closing the loopholes on background checks, and restoring the restrictions on allowing the mentally ill to possess weapons that Trump revoked earlier in his term.

With the student activist survivors of the Parkland shootings –who were the motivating force behind today’s march — as his literal inspiration, the actor/artist drew a portrait of the best known amongst the students against a yellow backdrop containing the lyrics to Bob Dylan’s “The Times They Are a-Changing.”

Add your name to demand Trump & Congress act to prevent gun violence. THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE NOT ENOUGH!

Posting the drawing on Twitter, Carrey appended his own political message regarding the purpose of today’s march and the actions that he, along with the majority of people in the country, believes that our government needs to take to prevent any more mass slaughter.

It’s amazing how much diverse talent can reside in a single person. If Jim Carrey decides that he never wants to act or appear in films or TV again, he surely has a fruitful career ahead of him as the most well known political illustrator since Ralph Steadman provided the surreal drawings for Hunter Thompson’s “Fear and Loathing On The Campaign Trail.”

It’s so great that he’s working for the right side in this battle against the NRA and its agenda of death.
