The mall remains on emergency lockdown as police search for the perpetrator and evacuate innocent bystanders.
The incident joins 11,273 other violent events related to guns that have taken place in the less than three months since the beginning of 2018, including 2,942 deaths and 5,035 injuries according to statistics from the Gun Violence Archive.
The continued proliferation of violent incidents demonstrates that action on gun regulation needs to be taken immediately and that the president’s impotent policies are doing nothing to curtail the epidemic of shootings that only a reduction in the number of firearms can contain.
