Never one to shy away from profuse, costly, and unnecessary displays of extravagance, Trump made international headlines last month by requesting a military parade to mirror the Paris Bastille Day event.

Amid high anticipation, the Pentagon has reportedly granted Trump his military parade, although with the caveat that it will not be of the same magnitude as the French event. There will be no heavy military vehicles, such as tanks, in order to avoid damage to the streets of Washington, D.C.
The decision was handed down today by the Pentagon to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The parade will reportedly take place on November 11th, Veterans Day.
Per CNN, “The memo says the parade will integrate with the annual DC Veterans Day parade and focus on the contributions of US veterans from the Revolutionary War to today ‘with an emphasis on the price of freedom.’”
According to the memo, the parade will “include wheeled vehicles only, no tanks,” adding, “consideration must be given to minimize damage to local infrastructure.”

To compensate, however, it will include a “heavy air component” as military aircrafts fly overhead.

It should be noted that Trump’s extravagant display will still be expensive. Telling the American people that the Washington, D.C. streets won’t be utterly destroyed by tanks is hardly the reassurance that Americans were seeking in their almost unified opposition to this asinine suggestion.
Trump’s demand comes on the heels of Trump’s requests to decimate crucial social programs, such as Meals on Wheels.
Our “America First” president is once again pilfering our tax dollars so that he can stroke his own ego on the streets on D.C. for a shamefully un-American display.
