President Trump started his morning by in indulging in one of his favorite pastimes: attacking President Obama. His obsession with his predecessor is always simmering just below the surface, and sometimes he simply can’t restrain it.
In a tweet reeking of paranoia and insecurity, Trump implied that the investigation into his campaign was done for partisan reasons, and not because he filled his team with shady individuals with enough questionable interactions with Russia to concern investigators.
Trump tried to use the fact that the investigation began “long before the election” to discredit the probe when in reality it just shows that he and his people were engaged in possibly illegal behavior for an extended period of time.

The allegation that Obama was abusing the Justice Department to help Hillary Clinton is a disgusting, unfounded smear. Trump claimed the scandal is bigger than Watergate, but the only thing comparable to Watergate here is the likely collusion between Trump and Russia.
Why did the Obama Administration start an investigation into the Trump Campaign (with zero proof of wrongdoing) long before the Election in November? Wanted to discredit so Crooked H would win. Unprecedented. Bigger than Watergate! Plus, Obama did NOTHING about Russian meddling.

John Brennan, the former Director of the CIA, saw the unhinged tweet and felt compelled to speak out. Brennan, who has been a vocal critic of Trump for some time now, tweeted that Trump misrepresented the facts and showcased his “paranoia” with his Obama conspiracy theory tweet. He added that Trump is freaking out about the Mueller investigation and that he has good reason to.
Brennan ended his tweet by calling Trump a “charlatan” and urged those who still support Trump to wake up and realize that they’ve been duped.
This tweet is a great example of your paranoia, constant misrepresentation of the facts, and increased anxiety and panic (rightly so) about the Mueller investigation. When will those in Congress and the 30 percent of Americans who still support you realize you are a charlatan?

Brennan should be commended for his willingness to stand up against the president’s mendacity. Trump can’t be allowed to lie and impugn Obama’s legacy without meaningful pushback. Our conman reality television star leader must be called out and contested every time he fabricates a story like this.
