Is there a formulation of Raid designed to repel and eliminate racists? If not, there certainly should be, with the seemingly widespread infestation of the noxious pests across the country since Trump took office.
The latest manifestation of brutally ugly racist behavior comes from a customer at a Hooter’s in Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City, where a toddler wandered away from his family during a birthday party at the restaurant. According to the account on Raw Story, the young child passed the table of a Kansas fireman who spat on the African-American boy and yelled a racial slur at him as his family hurriedly came to retrieve the wandering toddler in a scene right out of the Jim Crow South.
A witness to the incident told KCTV News what they saw.

“He basically said get that little ‘blank’ up off the floor,” the witness told the TV station. “The N-word started to get thrown around.”
The witness, who was just a table away from the man when the incident occurred, says that they were surprised that a fist fight didn’t break out at that point, but that the police arrived quickly to calm the situation down. When the law did show up, the man tried to use his status as a first responder as a get-out-of-jail-free card to evade responsibility for his despicable actions.
“I didn’t catch what the officer said to him, but his immediate response was ‘It’s okay, I’m a fireman,’ like that was supposed to blanket cover everything for him,” the witness said.
Perhaps the intolerant bigot of a firefighter was lucky that the police arrived when they did since he spat on a boy who was attending a birthday party with about two dozen family and friends and the situation could have gotten considerably uglier had help not turned up when it did.
Overland Park police are continuing to investigate the fracas and may charge the firefighter with battery and criminal threat.
The renewed proliferation of emboldened bigotry since the election of Donald Trump is no mere coincidence. With a racist temporarily installed in the oval office, some people who may have hidden or tempered their racism now feel free to be who they truly are with the knowledge that President Trump feels the same as they do.
If only we had a can of Raid for Racists we could employ to rid ourselves of these dangerous vermin.
