Trump just publicly sent Jeff Sessions to the doghouse with unhinged Obama rant

President Trump is once angry with Attorney General Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III, the man he handpicked to run the Justice Department. It’s just the latest dustup in a relationship that has become increasingly strained with each passing month.

The two have been on bad terms ever since Sessions recused himself from the investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, a move that people on both sides agreed was the only moral move to make. It frustrated Trump to no end because it meant Sessions could no longer run interference for him against special counsel Robert Mueller.

Yesterday, Sessions announced that he was launching an investigation to discern if the FBI abused FISA warrants during the Obama years. It was an act of rank partisanship and a blatant sortie in the Trump administration’s ongoing campaign to undermine the FBI to weaken special counsel Robert Mueller’s credibility. Trump continues to politicize the Justice Department, an organization which only functions properly if it’s allowed to operate outside overt Republican or Democratic influence.

Today, Trump decided to suddenly attack Sessions on Twitter. “Why is A.G. Jeff Sessions asking the Inspector General to investigate massive FISA abuse.” the tweet begins.

The fact that the President of the United States would choose to blast out the question on social media rather than simply asking the man he appointed to come to the Oval Office and explain in person shows that the tweet is nothing more than theater. Trump is trying to sow doubt and rile up his base against Sessions, nothing more.

Trump then went on to impugn the Inspector General, by implying he will not be able to discharge his duties faithfully because he worked during the Obama era. It’s an unfair and disgusting allegation of abuse from a man who has done nothing but abuse his powers since taking office.

Trump ended the tweet with an emphatic, all caps “DISGRACEFUL!” lest anyone be confused about how he really feels. Once again, we have an official message from the most powerful man in the world that reads like a child wrote it.

The only thing disgraceful here is Trump’s continued assault on the rule of law. He wants to run the country like a dictator, and when he runs into a check or balance that stops him from doing exactly what he wants, he runs to Twitter to whine like a petulant infant.
