Vice President Pence just menaced women across the United States with the possibility of a regression to the days of life-threatening back alley abortions and a total lack of reproductive choice.
Today, at a Nashville anti-choice luncheon, the man who calls his wife “mother” and obsesses over gay Olympian Brian Rippon portended that legal abortions will end in America “in our time.”
The so-called “Christian,” who has endorsed the decidedly anti-family values president at every sordid turn, said to the crowd gathered at the Susan B. Anthony List & Life Institute this afternoon:
I know in my heart of hearts this will be the generation that restores life in America. If all of us do all we can, we can once again in our time restore the sanctity of life to the center of American law.
While Pence and his party have given a blank check to the NRA to create policies that result in the deaths of thousands of Americans every year, and have cut taxes on the rich, while slashing access to healthcare and other social programs that prolong the lives of the living, they proudly attack the reproductive rights of women with disingenuous claims of being “pro-life.”
As today’s The Hill reports:
Since President Trump took office last year, he has signed legislation reversing an Obama-era rule that blocked states from defunding Planned Parenthood and reinstated a ban on federal funds for global health programs that cover or promote abortions.
Pence ominously preached his misogynist mission to fellow believers, “Let me admonish you as we go forward in this cause in 2018 to understand while we have made great progress, we have much work left to do.”
He added that they should fight together to ban 20-week abortions, which would open the door to passing other anti-choice measures. The 20-week abortion ban narrowly missed passage in January, so Pence could soon claim victory against women.
That is, unless Democrats march in lock step to the polls like the cast of Les Misérables, refusing to let internecine differences divide us.
We must flip the House and Senate to advance the cause of choice and prevent medieval Republicans like Pence from setting women back 100 years.
