Chelsea Clinton stepped up today to challenge conservative conspiracy monger Jim Hoft of the far-right rag The Gateway Pundit to pick on someone his own size.

Hoft has been attacking one of the young Parkland massacre survivors, David Hogg, whose father is a retired FBI agent, saying that the “Deep State” has coached the 17-year-old Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School senior on his anti-gun talking points, in order to undermine “President” Trump.
To make matters worse, Hoft’s attack on Hogg used a misspelling of the word “survivor.”
Hoft’s white nationalist Gateway Pundit colleague, Lucian Wintrich, wrote:
The fault for this tragedy lies squarely on the shoulder’s of the FBI, who could have prevented this back in January.
Adding to the ‘credibility’ of Hogg, in a recently uncovered early cut from one of his interviews it appears he was heavily coached on lines and is merely reciting a script.
Never mind that the FBI is a notoriously conservative law enforcement agency that helped Donald Trump win the 2016 presidential election by keeping their Russia investigation a secret, while publicizing their fruitless inquiry into Hillary Clinton’s emails.
Trump and his far-right henchmen want to shift accountability to anyone but the so-called “president.”
The Young Mr. Hogg responded to Trump’s attacks on the FBI by telling CNN:
I think it’s disgusting, personally. My father’s a retired FBI agent and the FBI are some of the hardest working individuals I have ever seen in my life . . . It’s wrong that the president is blaming them for this . . . He can’t put that off on them. He is in charge of them and these people, what they love to do is push this off on bureaucracy and say it’s not them . . .
Mr. Hogg is right to point out the president’s role in enabling mass murders like the one the teen just captured live on film as a student journalist.
Last year, Trump signed an executive order reversing Obama-era restrictions meant to prevent mentally ill people like the Florida shooter from accessing guns.
In the days following the slaughter of 14 teens and 3 teachers, Hogg has emerged as one of the leaders of the #NeverAgain movement to establish sensible gun laws once and for all, so that no one has to endure the mass shootings which have become commonplace in the United States, far outnumbering every other wealthy nation in gun massacres.
Hogg and his Parkland classmates have challenged lawmakers to summon the courage to stand up to the NRA and take action that will prevent any other teens from being slaughtered in what should be a safe place to learn.
One of the main points the students want to highlight is that a military-grade weapon of war like the AR-15 should, at minimum, not be made available to anyone under 21, mentally ill people, domestic abusers, and terrorists.
The AR-15 has proven the weapon of choice in most American mass shootings.
Yet conservatives would rather try to discredit the brave young people standing up to change the laws in order to protect kids like themselves from getting slaughtered, than risk NRA support of the Republican Party by working to establish common-sense gun laws.
The former First Daughter nailed it when she demanded self-pitying conservative dinosaurs like Hoft and his colleagues at the conspiracy mill Gateway Pundit focus their entitled grievances on adults and leave grieving children alone.
In 2020, most of the Parkland generation will have a reached voting age, a fact which should scare Trump to death.
In this year’s midterm elections, young American voters will give the Republican Party a taste of the toppling to come.
