A horrific mass shooting unfolded yesterday at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Seventeen people were killed when a young man opened fire with an AR-15 style rifle, a gun that has become a favorite of these shooters. Parkland is already the 18th school shooting this year.
Once again, the nation finds itself sifting through the wreckage of an act of senseless violence against at children. Republicans say the solution to the problem is more guns not less. They say only a “good guy” with a gun can stop a “bad guy” with a gun. The argument conveniently ignores the fact that there were police officers stationed at the school and they were unable to prevent the shooting.
The GOP, with their massive NRA blood money slush funds, refuse to even consider gun reform. They’re willing to let kids keep dying as long as they can keep gun enthusiasts happy and gun manufacturers profitable.
Yet again, President Trump showed himself either incapable or unwilling to provide guidance to the American people. It’s not surprising that he failed to respond properly to the Parkland shooting given that after the Las Vegas massacre — the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history — President Trump refused to push for any kind of meaningful reform.
Yet again, Democrats called for something to be done to curb the epidemic of gun violence gripping this nation. After every mass shooting, the Dems try to craft legislation to prevent or at the very least decrease these incidents.
Every time, the Republicans say “now is not the time” and accuse Democrats of “politicizing” tragedy. The criticism is completely inane. Democrats want gun reform to stop mass murder. There is no other underlying incentive for them to “politicize” these events. There is no Anti-NRA lining their pockets.
The GOP has a financial stake in this issue. The Democrats have a moral one.
Like clockwork, after the shooting, conservatives rushed to pick up their usual talking points. Tomi Lahren, the minimally talented and maximally ignorant Fox News personality took to Twitter to slam the “Let” for not giving the victims and families of Parkland enough time to grieve before pushing for gun control. She said the issue isn’t about guns.
Can the Left let the families grieve for even 24 hours before they push their anti-gun and anti-gunowner agenda? My goodness. This isn't about a gun it's about another lunatic. #FloridaShooting

In response, Twitter user @longlivekcx whose display name as Kyra weighed in. Kyra says she is a student at Parkland and that a gun killed seventeen of her classmates. A gun traumatized her and her entire school. For Kyra and for anyone being honest about these shootings, guns are the issue, regardless of what Lahren says.
Kyra added the shooting could have been prevented and told Lahren to “stfu” meaning “shut the f*ck up.” It’s exactly what Lahren deserved.
A gun has killed 17 of my fellow classmates. A gun has traumatized my friends. My entire school, traumatized from this tragedy. This could have been prevented. Please stfu tomi https://t.co/qNo03ZE3Ev
