CNN just publicly called out Rubio, Cruz, and Scott by name for their cowardice

The Republican Party under Trump has retreated more and more into a fabricated reality handcrafted to the delusions of its voting base. Many of its members, the president included, choose time and again to appear on friendly television networks like Fox News where they know they’ll be treated to softball questions rather than less biased networks that might actually challenge them to defend their regressive positions or explain their lies.

Earlier today, CNN‘s Brian Stelter shared a screenshot of one of his networks graphics, in which they shame Florida Governor Rick Scott, Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) for being unwilling to appear on CNN but regularly appearing on Fox.

CNN is right to publicly expose these men. Fox News has effectively become state propaganda for the GOP and Trump, with its anchors and guests regularly engaging in conspiracy theory peddling and railing about Hillary Clinton despite the fact that she lost the 2016 election and has largely retreated from the public eye.

Fox exists to engender fear in its viewers, to mold their perspectives on the country and public policy by employing myths and misleading narratives so that those watching will vote for whatever laws and measures the owners, financiers, and beneficiaries of the network prefer. It’s racket untethered from reality and it’s slowly poisoning our country.

Our elected officials have a responsibility to confront levelhanded criticism. They need to be held accountable and start appearing on legitimate news networks. There is no room for cowards in government. If they refuse to engage their electorate honestly, they must be voted out of office. In the case of these three men in particular, they need to be voted out regardless.
