Trump just attacked our First Amendment rights in his latest tweet in an outrageous fashion

Sunday morning means one thing is certain: President Trump will be sending out another dollop of self-serving propaganda over Twitter. He did not disappoint expectations today.

Add your name to millions demanding Congress take action on the President’s crimes. IMPEACH TRUMP & PENCE!

Attacks on the “Fake News Media” are nothing new for Trump. In fact, now that he’s routinely capitalizing the phrase, it wouldn’t be surprising to see it with a trademark registration symbol accompanying it next time he uses it.

What President Trump fails to point out in his attacks on mainstream media (i.e., the media that reports facts rather than his phony talking points) is that it is his actions and policies that are the source of the negative stories.

He could prevent negative stories very easily by ceasing to continually do and say horrendously stupid and destructive things like praising physically abusive former aides while failing to condemn domestic violence.

He could stop lying every time he opens his mouth and stop trying to take health care and other social services away from average Americans in order to fund tax cuts for his billionaire buddies and the corporate oligarchs who fund the Republican party.

The only “People” who no longer trust the media are the ones who’ve been listening to his daily attacks on a media dutifully reporting his multiplicity of misdeeds and enumerating his litany of lies and misstatements.

And as far as approval ratings go, it is the President himself who has garnered the lowest approval rating of any president in modern history at a comparable point in their terms, so perhaps he should not be bringing up popularity measures, especially since he lost the popular vote in the election and has only gone further down in the nation’s estimation since then.

Yes, the media runs the same negative stories again and again, but it’s because Trump is still in office and still doing the same negative things again and again. Until he manages to achieve his fascistic aims of shackling our free press in violation of the First Amendment to the Constitution, you’ll be seeing those same negative stories again and again until he’s gone.
