In a new low for the Republican Party, it looks like an actual nazi is poised to win the GOP nomination for Congress in Illinois’ third district.
Art Jones is the former leader of the American Nazi Party running for the seat. He has been denounced by both state and national GOP leaders, but he’s running unopposed in a resoundingly blue district.
Jones appeared on a popular CNN morning show with visibly disgusted host Alisyn Camerota. You can see her unable to put up with his racist vitriol in the video here.
Camerota held the nazi’s feet to the fire, challenging him on his national socialist bona fides when he tried to deny he was still an actual nazi, and rebrand himself as a run of the mill Trumpian racist.
“You’ve been party of anti-Semitic groups since the 1970s, you go to neo-Nazi rallies, we have pictures of you there, you were part of the White People’s party, you dress in Nazi garb and you celebrate Hitler’s birthday — you’re a Nazi.”
Jones calls his platform the “America First Party,” which is his attempt at rebranding. Everyone’s seeing right through it, including Camerota and the viewers she implored to vote against Jones when the times comes.
