The ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, Adam Schiff (D-CA), just responded to President Trump’s tweet this morning trying to claim that the infamous memo, written By Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), that he declassified and House Republicans released yesterday “totally vindicates” him in Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller’s Probe into his campaign’s collusion with Russia and his obstruction of justice in the investigation.
In case you missed it, here is the President’s tweet from a few hours ago.
This memo totally vindicates “Trump” in probe. But the Russian Witch Hunt goes on and on. Their was no Collusion and there was no Obstruction (the word now used because, after one year of looking endlessly and finding NOTHING, collusion is dead). This is an American disgrace!

Schiff saw the colossal pile of lies in Trump’s statement and, as one of the few people who have seen, heard, and read all of the evidence presented to the Intelligence Committee, felt compelled to set the record straight to thwart Trump’s attempts to spin the facts into a public declaration of false innocence.
Quite the opposite, Mr. President. The most important fact disclosed in this otherwise shoddy memo was that FBI investigation began July 2016 with your advisor, Papadopoulos, who was secretly discussing stolen Clinton emails with the Russians. https://t.co/2rGOE1jGg2

Yes, Nunes and Republican Trump-enabling cronies like Trey Gowdy (R-SC) were stupid enough to undermine the entire point they were trying to make with their memo by admitting, albeit buried in the last paragraph of the document, that the central premise of the memo — that the FBI relied solely on what they consider improperly sourced intelligence from the Steele Dossier to obtain a FISA warrant to surveil Carter Page, a Trump foreign policy aide who had been on the FBI’s radar for years before Trump began his presidential run — was not true.
Of course, Trump and the vast majority of Republicans who enable him are counting that enough Americans are just not paying close attention to the details of what’s really going on to know that they’re continuing to lie unashamedly and that they’ll just believe whatever Trump feeds them through Twitter, Fox News, Breitbart, and the rest of his pernicious propaganda network.
Rep. Schiff has penned his own memo along with the other Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee, but naturally, the Republicans on the committee have voted not to release that memo to the public, since it points out all of the misleading and erroneous material in the Nunes memo.
There is one thing that the President did not lie about. This is an American disgrace. It’s just that Trump doesn’t realize that he’s the one who is the disgrace.
