The sadistic cruelty of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency was once again put on clear display this morning when their agents defied the House of Representatives and deported a tax-paying man who has lived in the United States for the majority of his life.
Amer Othman Adi, 57, was torn away from his wife and his four daughters and placed in one of ICE’s migrant prisons for two weeks before being deported back to Palestine.
In an infuriating miscarriage of justice, Amer’s green card was revoked due to “marriage fraud” after authorities pressured his ex-wife into stating that their union was illegitimate, despite the fact that she later signed a sworn affidavit saying that their marriage had been very real.
He was never granted a day in court to fight the charge and was arrested when he made the mistake of attending what he thought was a “check-up” meeting with ICE. After being told he had until Jan 7th to leave the country, he and his wife sold their house and began making plans to move to Jordan before he was once again arrested, thrown in jail, and deported without any explanation.
The United States House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration and Border Security demanded that the Department of Homeland Security review Amer’s case and stay his deportation, but ICE ignored them and deported him anyway.

It’s far past time that the American people start discussing the need to abolish ICE. The exuberance with which their agents tear families apart, terrorize children and abuse people of color make it clear that the institutionalized racism and callous cruelty that pervades all American law enforcement officials is the driving animus of ICE.
Instead of inspecting cargo and hunting fugitive criminals seeking refuge in the United States, ICE has decided that their role is to be the enforcers of soft ethnic cleansing and the enforcers of white supremacy, a modern-day Gestapo who drag the innocent out of schools, churches, and hospitals before throwing them into modern-day concentration camps that yes, were built by President Obama, and deporting them back to their “home” countries, often in appallingly cruel “slave ship” conditions.
The refusal of ICE to respect the demands of Congress should be setting off alarm bells in every American who truly believes that the United States is a nation of immigrants that thrives on diversity and pluralism. No human being is illegal and being “undocumented” is not a crime, and we must strip the racist thugs who operate ICE of the power to carry out their heinous agenda.
