Trump just attacked Jay Z in a bizarre morning twitter rant

Back from Davos, President Trump resumed his Twitter habit without much interruption, but his tweets lately have been lacking their usual deranged energy. His tweets the past two days have been fairly predictable, repetitive, and almost kind of boring.

He sent a  Holocaust Remembrance day tweet that actually mentioned Jews, unlike last year.

He sent the normal obligatory thoughts and prayers to bombing victims in Kabul, Afghanistan when he hardly ever does the obligatory thing without screwing it up.

He attacked the Democrats on immigration, ironically blaming them for obstruction while admitting that his offer was just meant to make them look bad.

That was four tweets in a row without a single ALL CAPS rant.

Then he finally showed some of that old Trump manic spewing when he turned his attention to the economy and to attacking hip-hop mega-star/entrepreneur Jay Z.

The rapper apparently raised the President’s ire during an interview with Van Jones on CNN where the host was asking Jay Z whether it was acceptable for Trump “to say terrible things but put money in our pockets,” referring to the President’s recent claims of record lows in unemployment in the African-American community.

Jay Z opined that it was not the least bit acceptable:

“because it’s not about money at the end of the day. Money doesn’t equate to happiness. It doesn’t. That’s missing the whole point. You treat people like human beings. That’s the main point,” he said. “It goes back to the whole thing — ‘treat me really bad and pay me well.’ It’s not going to lead to happiness, it’s going to lead to, again, the same thing. Everyone’s going to be sick.”

While not quite reaching the “money is the root of all evil” level of attack towards Trump’s entire core of being, this statement was heretical enough to inspire the President’s first Twitter shouting since days before he left for Davos, all while completely ignoring Jay Z’s point.

Somebody please inform the President that everyone knows that it was Obama who saved the economy and that, try as he might to destroy it with massive deficits caused by the Republican tax giveaway to billionaires, the economy is like an ocean liner. It takes a while to turn it around.

But have faith, with Trump at the helm, Republicans will manage to destroy the economy again like they did the last time they were in power. They’re already scheming to eliminate all the financial regulations put in place after the great recession of 2008, so it won’t be long now.

In the meantime, Trump will continue to tweet out his political propaganda. After a week where growth figures in the U.S. lagged behind most major economies in Europe and Asia, and the Trans-Pacific Trade Partnership continued without U.S. involvement, Trump continues to send tweets like his last one this morning, hoping people will believe him after all his lies.

Yeah, right.
