FOX News Host just shredded his own network’s latest conspiracy theory

On his show today, News anchor Shepard Smith called a reckless memo from intel committee chairman Devin Nunes (R-CA) a “weapon of mass distraction.”

You can watch the video below this article.

Smith added:

Many who’ve seen the memo say it’s misleading, distracting, and lacking context . . . The memo itself is in the conservative discussion mix while the special counsel investigating Russian interference into our democracy is apparently about to interview the president of the United States while seeking to determine whether he’s colluded with the Russians or obstructed justice . . .

In a remarkable show of defiance against his own party — and his own colleagues, including Trump crony, Sean Hannity — Smith pointed out the political motivations between Nunes’ obfuscation campaign:

. . . especially at a pivotal moment in American democracy when it behooves the man in charge for supporters to believe the institutions can’t be trusted, the investigators are corrupt, and the news media are liars. Context matters.

Unlike most of the so-called journalists on FOX, Smith took an objective view on Nunes’ consistent aiding and abetting of Trump’s obstruction of justice:

Remember, this began with Devin Nunes. The same Devin Nunes who last year made White House surveillance claims, staged a rush to the White House to purportedly share surveillance information with the administration, but actually took information from the administration and staged a report of it . . . At its core, it was PR, and it was bogus.

Good for you, Shep.  Standing up to Republican lies on a network that practically serves as our wannabe dictator’s state TV is tantamount to heresy in Trumpland.  Doing so takes courage.

Even Trump’s own Department of Justice has warned Nunes not to release his self-crafted propaganda that distorts the truth about the FBI’s investigation into Trump’s crimes.

When members of your own party are crying “foul,” you know you’re treading on thin ice.

Trump, and the lackeys who are transparently attempting to mislead the public in order to protect him, will end up on the trash heap of history.  Some of them may end up in jail.
