President Obama just gave former staffers the wedding surprise of a lifetime

Weddings these days are something else, there’s so much pressure to deliver a spectacular, yet intimate experience that celebrates the couple and wows the guests.

Seems like everything’s been done before, until this past weekend when a D.C. couple tied the knot and stunned their guests with a ceremony unlike anything anyone’s ever seen before.

Dana Remus and Brett Holmgren walked down the aisle towards a very special guest, speaker and surprise officiant: President Barack Obama.

The former Obama staffers of course sent their old boss an invitation to the blessed event, but they were pleasantly surprised when he returned not just a standard RSVP with a box checked for chicken, but also an interest in officiating.

The former President’s presence was kept a secret from guests until the ceremony. He spoke just after the bride walked down the aisle, leaving not a dry eye in the house with his sincere and heartfelt remarks.

The Remus served as an Obama administration lawyer, while Holmgren was special assistant to the president and served on the National Security Council as senior director for intelligence programs.

Obama stayed for a short while at the reception, taking photos with the family. Michelle was unable to attend the event, but no doubt she sent her regrets.

Obama had previously served as a groomsman in one former staffer’s wedding, last January before leaving office.

He did secure a temporary officiant’s license through the city government and signed the couple’s wedding license. Good luck to everyone else trying to find something on the gift registry to top that.
