After eagerly awaiting President Trump’s heavily touted “Fake News Awards”, for many people primarily to see whether they or their favorite journalists can claim bragging rights by being included, Americans were disappointed to find that the White House hadn’t bothered to make sure their servers could handle the traffic such a highly anticipated and massively hyped event would generate.
Here’s what many internet surfers saw on their phones when they heard that Trump had announced his “winners”.
Trump, for his part, has a sordid history of attacking the press for publishing content critical of him or his administration. As such, he has petulantly resorted to repeating ad nauseam his claim that any media other than far-right outlets are “fake news.”
That claim, of course, culminated into the shameless publicity stunt that Trump dubbed the “Fake News Awards.” As we can now see, those results have gone off not with a bang, but with a whimper.
Oops! Don’t worry, eventually they’ll get their act together and you’ll be able to laugh at Trump’s attempted destruction of the first amendment to your heart’s content.
