Sally Yates just publicly shamed Republicans for enabling Trump in powerful MLK Day tweet

Former acting Attorney General Sally Yates took to Twitter this morning in order to scold and shame the vast majority of the Republican Party, which is going out of its way to condone and excuse the unforgivable behavior of President Donald Trump and his efforts to derail the investigation into his campaign team’s allegedly treasonous collusion with agents of the Russian Federation.

Quoting the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. on his national day of remembrance, Yates both reassured the American people that justice would be done and shamed those who would rather see our institutions crumble and our freedoms curtailed in order to pursue a destructive partisan agenda at the hands of an unfit racist.

Add your name to millions demanding Congress take action on the President’s crimes. IMPEACH TRUMP & PENCE!

When Trump’s racist remarks about African nations being “shitholes” leaked to the media last week, all Speaker of the House Paul Ryan had to say was that it was “unfortunate.” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell couldn’t even be bothered to say anything at all.

While a fair number of Republican Senators and Representatives all offered vague statements of disapproval, their words might as well be silent if their actions continue to support the racist and un-American policies that Trump is imposing upon the American people – which they have up to this point.

Indeed, when we look back upon this dark period in our short but great history, it will be the complicity of the Republican Party and their betrayal of the American people that stands out long after the trauma of President Trump fades away.
