Urgent news has broken for all of us who have been anxiously awaiting the announcement of President Trump’s promised “Fake News Awards” tomorrow. The President took to Twitter to announce the postponement of the awards ceremony by a week and a half.
The Fake News Awards, those going to the most corrupt & biased of the Mainstream Media, will be presented to the losers on Wednesday, January 17th, rather than this coming Monday. The interest in, and importance of, these awards is far greater than anyone could have anticipated!

While Trump gives an indication that the overwhelming interest in the awards is the reason for their postponement, presumably to allow last-minute entries or to complete the design and manufacture of the spiffy trophies he must be planning to hand out, or perhaps even to allow time for Melania to get a couture gown for the occasion, he is the only one privy to the criteria for inclusion in this newly minted awards ceremony.

Of course, the other explanation is that the idea was an offhand comment that Trump made in a fury of tweeting that he just realized has been taken seriously enough that he’ll have to fulfill his promise, and he’s now scrambling to get enough extra time to figure out what to do.
Trump’s attacks on the so-called “fake news” mainstream media have escalated as more and more reports of chaos, corruption, collusion, and incompetence in the White House have flowed out like a gushing river about to overflow its banks.

Trump’s attempts at countering the truths uncovered by dedicated journalists with his own twisted version of reality has managed to convince about a third of the nation that the media is not to be trusted, but anyone with a brain can see who benefits from the President’s narrative, whereas the mainstream media has no vested interest in the failure of Trump’s presidency, particularly when he’s providing them with such sensational ratings with his erratic antics.
Some of us eagerly awaiting Trump’s ludicrous public promotion of his enemies list remember a time when it was a major scandal that then-President Nixon even had the audacity to compile an enemies list. With late-night talk show hosts vying to be named in the President’s “Fake News Awards” as a badge of honor, the value of an enemies list seems to have shifted to those included on it rather than the person compiling it.

We’ll now have to see exactly who Trump decides to include in his awards, what categories he devises, and who the eventual winners are. Smart money has CNN in the lead with The New York Times, The Washington Post, and MSNBC close behind, but with Trump as the sole judge, it’s really anybody’s game.
