The Russian attorney, Natalia Veselnitskaya, along with lobbyist Rinat Akhmetshin, met with Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka’s husband and White House senior adviser Jared Kushner and former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort in the President’s New York business headquarters during the presidential campaign after the Trump team was told that the Russians had “dirt” on Trump’s rival Hillary Clinton.

While Ivanka has not been reported to have attended the meeting, the new revelation is that Mueller’s team is looking into reports that Ivanka greeted and spoke with the Russians as they stepped off of the elevator in Trump Tower. There have been no previous reports of Ivanka’s direct involvement with the Russians at the meeting until now.

Mueller’s team is investigating all interactions between members of the Trump campaign and the Russians at that meeting as well as the financial connections between the businesses of both the Trump and Kushner families and the Russian customers of and investors in their real estate empires. The President and his son continue to maintain that the meeting was primarily to discuss the issue of American adoptions of Russian children.

The other major issue related to the meeting being investigated is whether the hastily issued press statement composed on Air Force One once the news of the meeting broke constitutes an attempt by the President of an obstruction of justice.
