Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) isn’t letting the president get away with one of his most irresponsible tweets to date.
Late Thursday, he tweeted a “joke” about climate change that left few people laughing, writing, “In the East, it could be the COLDEST New Year’s Eve on record. Perhaps we could use a little bit of that good old Global Warming that our Country, but not other countries, was going to pay TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS to protect against. Bundle up!”
Minutes later Sen. Warren shot back in the bluntest way she could:
I’m going to say something really crazy: I believe in science. Climate change is real and we have a moral obligation to protect this Earth for our children and grandchildren.

Over 200 Americans have died between Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria alone, and that death toll is expected to rise significantly now that Puerto Rico is investigating the suspiciously low number of reported deaths caused by Hurricane Maria in September. Experts agree that these devastating storms were exacerbated by the effects of climate change.
While 97% of scientists agree that climate change is real and caused by human activity, Republicans have decided to make it a partisan issue, given the fossil fuel industry’s massive contributions to their campaigns.
Senator Warren’s tweet is a reminder that those who continue to fight science and the facts with a false narrative fabricated by their patrons in the corporate world must be repudiated with the cold hard truth.
