Those howls you’re hearing? Those are from dogs around the world all furious at the news that Donald Trump will be depicted as a dog in China’s celebration of the Lunar New Year.

Newsweek reports that:

“President Donald Trump will be represented during the 2018 Chinese New Year as a giant dog statue that shares his recognizable hairdo with a stern expression and an index finger pointed toward the sky.”

Actually, the news is appropriate on several levels. In the Chinese calendar, the upcoming year will be the Year of the Dog. Moreover, President Trump was born in the Year of the Dog under the Chinese zodiac. And, of course, the multiple women who have accused the President of sexual harassment have reason to compare his behavior to that of a dog as well.

China Plus News tweeted an image of the Trump-dog statue from its location at a shopping mall in Taiyuan, in the northern Shanxi province.

The resemblance is uncanny. The statue manages to capture that uniquely Trumpian essence while still thoroughly saying “I am a dog,”  in a cartoonish way.

If we’re lucky, Trump will see this and be inspired to resign to work on a new animated series featuring Trump-dog. He’ll be much better working as a voice-over actor than he is at his job as president, so it’s a win-win for everyone involved.
