On their heels of their highly publicized engagement, Britain’s Prince Harry and actress Meghan Markle’s engagement photos have been released by Kensington Palace.
In the photos, Markle is wearing a sheer black Ralph & Russo gown. Harry, meanwhile, is donning a dark blue suit.
The photographer, Alexi Lubomirski, relished the opportunity to shoot the royal couple.
“It was an incredible honor to be asked to document this wonderful event, but also a great privilege to be invited to share and be a witness to this young couple’s love for one another,” Lubomirski said, per a statement from the palace. “I cannot help but smile when I look at the photos that we took of them, such was their happiness together.”
Last month, Harry told the BBC that his late mother, Princess Diana, would have been “over the moon” about his engagement to Markle. Princess Diana died in a car crash in Paris in 1997.
The couple met in July of 2016 in what Markle said “was definitely a setup.”
Harry proposed to his fiancé last month at Nottingham Cottage.
“It was so sweet and natural and very romantic. He got down on one knee,” Markle said. “As a matter of fact, I could barely let you finish proposing. I said, ‘Can I say yes now?'”
Harry and Markle’s wedding will take place on May 19, 2018 at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
With the United States in such a state of tumult because of the Trump administration, the impending royal wedding is a much needed distraction—and return to dignity.
