The Republicans just passed their unpopular tax bill and it’s already backfiring on Trump

The blue wave is coming, and it threatens to wash away the Republican Party with all the godlike ferocity of an electorate spurned. Against the wishes of the majority of Americans, the GOP has rammed through its kleptocratic tax bill, replete with all its financial panderings to lobbyists, handouts to corporations, and plunderous assaults on the middle class.

It’s not so much class warfare as class genocide as it threatens to wipe out what’s left of the middle class in the long run by exploding the deficit and saddling most Americans with tax hikes. The super rich will, as usual, come out not only unscathed but fattened as more and more tax dollars are forked over to them so they can buy more trivial luxuries.

Luckily, the American people at large are onto the Republican #TaxScam and it’s going to hurt the GOP in the 2018 mid-terms. A new poll from CNN shows that Republicans are already taking a huge hit for their smuggled-in-the-dead-of-night bill.

A generic CNN poll — conducted before the congressional vote but taken in an atmosphere in which the bill loomed heavy in the political zeitgeist — aimed at seeing which party Americans plan to vote for in 2018 shows Democrats up 18% points.

56% of those polled said they plan to vote for Democrats and a measly 38% are leaning Republican. The difference is the largest yet recorded by CNN going into the 2018 elections.

A helpful CNN graphic demonstrates how these numbers have changed over time:

Nate Cohn of The New York Times took to Twitter to compile a list of other polls that, with some minor variances, confirm what the CNN poll states: Republicans are in serious trouble.

While these polls are incredibly heartening, Democrats cannot allow themselves to be lulled into complacency. Between now and the 2018 mid-terms we need to hit the Republicans again and again over this horrific bill. It’s an attack on the vast majority of Americans and we can’t allow them to slink away from it. It must be hung around their necks like a shameful weight until it sinks them right out of office.

If we fail to capitalize on their disgusting behavior and seize back Congress, things promise to get even worse. Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI) has already announced that his next objective is “entitlement reform” meaning he wants to gut Medicare, Medicaid, and social security. He must be stopped.
