Mike Pence just sucked up to Trump once every twelve seconds for three minutes straight

Religious fanatic Mike Pence abandoned any morals or principles he previously claimed to have by signing onto the Trump campaign and then remaining silent after the election as President Trump worked day in and day out to undermine the core values of the United States and steer us straight towards disaster. He’s an utterly spineless Vice President who seems to think his best route to the presidency is by serving as a loyal lapdog to the current one.

Today, Trump held a cabinet meeting to praise the disastrous tax bill the Republicans passed, in which they plunder the middle-class in order to deliver massive, plutocratic tax cuts to the superwealthy. It was crafted by lobbyists and GOP corporate donors in complete darkness, shielded from the scrutiny of Democrats and the public at large.

After rambling on nonsensically for a bit, the president turned the conversation over to his sniveling minions so that they could heap unearned praise on him. The ego-stroking went on for a preposterous amount of time, with perhaps none of the sycophants as pronounced and fawning as Pence.

In fact, Aaron Blake of The Washington Post broke down Pence’s comments and found the Vice President praised his reality television boss once every 12.5 seconds for three minutes straight.

“Over nearly three minutes, Pence offered plaudit after plaudit after plaudit, praising Trump’s vision, his words, his strategy and his results in light of the passage of tax cuts. By the end, Pence offered 14 separate commendations for Trump in less than three minutes — math that works out to one every 12.5 seconds. And each bit of praise was addressed directly to Trump, who was seated directly across the table,” writes Blake.

It’s an embarrassing show of obsequiousness on the part of Pence and further mires him in the historical morass that is the Trump presidency. Future generations will look back on him as an appeasing opportunist, a coward who sold his country out for a shot at more power.
